Town of Wasaga Beach Welcomes $6,300 Jumpstart Grant to Support Youth Programming and Mental Health Training
“We know that access to recreation, mentorship, and supportive programming plays a critical role in the healthy development of young people. Support from Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities helps ensure our kids can participate in meaningful programs that build confidence, connection, and well-being.”
WASAGA BEACH – The Town of Wasaga Beach has received $6,300 in funding from Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities to support sport-based programming and staff mental health training at the Wasaga Beach Youth Centre. This latest allocation brings total Jumpstart funding received since August 2024 to $21,000 and helps the Centre continue meeting growing demand for accessible youth programming in the community.
Jumpstart funding helps reduce financial and access barriers, allowing more children and youth in Wasaga Beach to take part in sport and recreation opportunities that support both physical and mental health.
The new $6,300 grant will support:
- After-school drop-in basketball opportunities at Wasaga Beach Public School
- Subsidized field trips, including transportation and admission to X-Play Trampoline Amusement Park, Georgian Bowl, and the Midhurst Skating Trail
- Mental health training for all Youth Centre staff, focused on early identification, intervention, and providing appropriate support to youth
By combining inclusive recreation opportunities with trained, supportive staff, the Wasaga Beach Youth Centre continues to play an important role in fostering safe, positive spaces where young people can stay active, connected, and supported.
