Town of Wasaga Beach to Unveil First Veteran Commemorative Mural on Anniversary of Vimy Ridge

“This mural is a powerful and lasting tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country. Unveiling it on the anniversary of Vimy Ridge makes this moment even more significant. It’s an opportunity for our community to come together, reflect on our shared history as Canadians, and ensure those sacrifices are never forgotten.”

- Mayor Brian Smith

WASAGA BEACHThe Town of Wasaga Beach will unveil its first-ever Veteran commemorative mural on April 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Foodland, 711 River Rd W, recognizing Vimy Ridge Day and honouring the service and sacrifice of Canadian veterans.

Commissioned by the Town, and created by artists Don Ward and Heather Shultz, the mural is a large-scale public artwork composed of three 12-by-12-foot panels. Together, the panels pay tribute to Canada’s military history, depicting service members from across generations alongside elements of the air force, navy, and army.

Through its Veteran Recognition Program, the Town continues to honour service and sacrifice with initiatives including the annual Banner Program, Remembrance Day service, and a street naming policy that commemorates those who have served.

The April 9 event marks the first of two Veteran commemorative murals planned for the Town. A second mural will be installed on the exterior wall of the Wasaga Stars Arena later this spring.

Residents, veterans, and visitors are invited to attend and take part in this special moment of remembrance and community pride.
