Public Notification of Bypass, Overflow and Spill Events - August 23, 2025

This notification has been prepared in accordance with Environmental Compliance Approval 0766-
CM9RQA issued February 16, 2023 for the Town of Wasaga Beach Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP).
The purpose of this procedure is to notify the Public and Downstream Users that may be impacted by an 
overflow, bypass or spill event.

End Date & Time – 2026/08/23 at 1442 hours
Total Discharge – Volume (m³): 4,216

Cause of the Event

An extended high flow event occurred due to excessive heavy rainfall. Between August 22 at 2118 hours to August 23 at 1442 hours, three bypass incidents occurred due to heavy flows which directed towards the WPCP and both disk filters were unable to keep up with the surge in flow.
