Proclamation: International Women's Day
WHEREAS International Women’s Day is celebrated globally on March 8th by those who believe in gender equity and who seek to improve the lives of all women and girls, two spirt, and gender diverse peoples through cultural, legal, economic, and social change;
AND WHEREAS On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate and encourage everyone to actively work toward a better understanding of gender, women's equality, and the issues impacting the lives of women and girls worldwide. We ask that everyone challenge gender inequality, draw attention to discrimination and bias, and work toward ending woman abuse so that all can genuinely embrace equity;
AND WHEREAS The Town of Wasaga Beach is committed to promoting equity and justice and will continue to work to address the systemic and structural oppressions that perpetuate inequity;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Brian Smith, Mayor of the Town of Wasaga Beach, do hereby proclaim March 8, 2026, as “International Women’s Day.”
