Notice to Accommodation Providers: Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT)
On November 27, 2025, Council for the Corporation of the Town of Wasaga Beach passed By-law 2025-63, establishing a Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) at a rate of 4% within the municipality.
Effective Date
The Municipal Accommodation Tax will come into effect on April 1, 2026.
Who Does This Apply To?
Effective April 1, 2026, all eligible accommodation providers operating within the Town of Wasaga Beach as defined in By-law 2025-63 (Sections 1 and 4), will be required to:
- Collect the 4% Municipal Accommodation Tax from guests; and
- Remit the tax to the Town in accordance with the MAT By-law.
Purpose of the MAT
The MAT is intended to support tourism-related initiatives, destination marketing, and visitor services that benefit the local accommodation sector and the broader community.

The Town of Wasaga Beach is committed to supporting accommodation providers through the implementation of the MAT.
