Community Voices in Local Decision Making

Advisory committees and boards play a vital role in shaping the future of Wasaga Beach. Made up of dedicated community volunteers, these groups provide insight, advice, and recommendations to Council on key issues and initiatives. From legislated committees to Council-appointed advisory groups, their work helps ensure open, transparent, and accountable local government.

How can I attend or participate in a meeting?

Most board and committee meetings are open to the public, in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001. Residents are encouraged to attend and stay informed about local decision-making. Before participating, please review the Procedural By-law to understand meeting rules and protocols.

In your request, include the board or committee that you are interested in attending or participating in. Clerk's Division staff will put you in contact with the appropriate staff liaison, who will provide you the information you need.

Accessibility Advisory Committee

Works to identify and remove barriers, promoting full participation for people with disabilities and provides guidance to Council on accessibility initiatives.

Economic Development & Tourism Advisory Committee

Provides guidance and strategic advice to Council on economic development and tourism initiatives.

Age Friendly Community Advisory Committee

Guides and implements strategies and initiatives that support, engage, and improve the quality of life for older adults in our community.

Climate Action Advisory Committee

Develops and implements climate strategies that educate, engage, and support the community in protecting natural resources and promoting environmental sustainability.

River Resources Committee

Provides advice to Council on balancing environmental protection with recreational use, ensuring the Nottawasaga River remains a safe, healthy, and enjoyable resource for all.

Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment reviews requests to change or expand properties or buildings that don’t meet current rules, and is made up of five members appointed by Council for four-year terms.

Property Standards Committee

The Property Standards Committee hears appeals from residents regarding property standards orders and can confirm, adjust, or extend compliance timelines to help resolve concerns.

Wasaga Beach Public Library Board

The Library Board guides the library’s programs and operations, appoints the CEO, and meets regularly to serve the community.

Huronia West OPP Detachment Board

The OPP Detachment Board sets priorities, provides guidance, and monitors policing to support safe and accountable community services.
