The Town of Wasaga Beach Treasury department is responsible for collecting taxes for the Municipality and on behalf of Simcoe County, and the School Boards.
Property Tax Billing Periods |
The Interim Tax Bill is issued in February, with installments due mid-March and mid-May. The Final Tax Bill is issued in June, with installments due mid-July and mid-September. |
Payment Options |
Taxes can be paid at Town Hall by cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard or Interac. We also offer Pre-authorized Payment plans that will automatically deduct amounts from your account each month (over a 10 month period) or on the due dates only. For your convenience your taxes can also be paid through telephone and on-line banking or at your local branch. All unpaid taxes are charged an interest rate of 1.25% per month. This charge is added on the first day of each calendar month in which the default continues. |
Supplementary Taxes and Buying a Newly Constructed Building |
For newly constructed homes or buildings, the property taxes may have not yet been assessed in full even though the homes have been completed. If the building portion has yet to be determined, you will only be paying taxes on the value of the land. The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation(MPAC) calculates the assessed values for all properties in Ontario. Due to the volume of buildings to be assessed, this may not happen in the current year. Any taxes owing on the building will be retro-active to the date of occupancy. Once this process is completed, the land and building taxes will be combined and levied accordingly. It is a good idea to find out what the property taxes are in the area by contacting the Town of Wasaga Beach so you can budget the right amount of money as soon as you move in! |
