Official Plan
The new Official Plan is a practical document that will guide how Wasaga Beach grows and evolves over the next two decades. It sets out where and how new housing, jobs, parks, roads and community services will be built, and ensures that all future zoning bylaws and Town-led public works align with the long-term vision of the community.
Project Overview
In November 2025, The Town of Wasaga Beach has approved a new Official Plan that will guide how the community grows and evolves through 2051. This updated framework sets the long-term vision for where homes, businesses, parks, roads and community services will be built, helping ensure that future development supports a healthy, connected and sustainable town. The Plan provides clear direction for municipal decision-making and will shape public works, zoning updates and growth strategies for years to come.
Created through one of the most extensive engagement processes in the Town’s history, the Plan reflects input from residents, businesses, Indigenous partners, community groups and government agencies. Feedback collected since 2017 - through public meetings, workshops, open houses, surveys and online tools - helped refine policies that balance growth with environmental protection, climate resilience and the unique character of Wasaga Beach’s neighbourhoods. The Plan also introduces new policies for the west end of the community and supports initiatives such as Destination Wasaga and future transportation improvements.
As Wasaga Beach prepares for significant population growth, anticipated to double over the next 30 years, the new Official Plan provides a coordinated vision focused on complete communities, housing diversity, active transportation and long-term environmental stewardship. With adoption now complete, the Town will begin updating its Zoning By-law and other supporting documents to bring the Plan fully into effect, ensuring that future development aligns with the goals and values set out by the community.
