K-12 School & Community Hub
The K-12 School & Community Hub will bring the first high school to Wasaga Beach, along with a 300-seat theatre, a track and field facility, childcare spaces, and opportunities for post-secondary learning. This innovative project will give residents more reasons to learn, participate, and stay active close to home, while creating long-term benefits for many families in the Town of Wasaga Beach.
Project Overview
Through an innovative partnership with the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School board, Wasaga Beach will open the doors to it's first high school in September 2028.
The project reflects a proactive, made-in-Wasaga Beach approach led by Town Council in partnership with the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board. Rather than waiting for a traditional school project to move forward on its own, the Town and school board advanced a practical proposal that uses existing municipal infrastructure beside the Wasaga Stars Arena and Wasaga Beach Public Library.
That approach helped secure provincial funding for the Town’s first high school faster. For local students and families, this project means less time travelling out of town by bus, more time in the classroom, and more opportunities to take part in sports, arts, clubs, and extracurricular activities in their own community. The new campus will give local students the chance to learn, compete, and build school life in their own community
The project is supported through a total investment of $70.1 million, including $67.3 million in provincial funding, a $2.8 million contribution from the Town of Wasaga Beach for community theatre enhancements, and a significant land donation from Far Sight Homes that helped make the School and Community Hub possible.
Beyond classrooms, the school has been designed as a multi-use community space that complements the $60-million Wasaga Stars Arena and Wasaga Beach Public Library located right next door. A 300-seat, state-of-the-art theatre will support both educational programming and public performances, creating new opportunities for arts, culture, and community events. The project also introduces 45 much-needed childcare spaces, along with modern outdoor recreation areas, including track and field facilities. By thoughtfully integrating the new school within an emerging hub of municipal amenities at the Wasaga Stars Arena and Wasaga Beach Public Library, the Town is creating a cohesive campus environment that maximizes public investment and enhances services for local families.
The Town has also secured partnerships with Lakehead University and Canadore College that will bring post-secondary and continuing education opportunities to Wasaga Beach during evenings and weekends. These programs will offer residents flexible ways to advance their skills, pursue new careers, or engage in lifelong learning close to home. Together, these features make the K–12 school far more than a traditional academic facility—it is a transformative community investment that will support youth, families, and residents of all ages for generations to come.
