Mayor's Message

Hello to all of our full and part-time residents and, a warm welcome if you're just visiting Wasaga Beach.

On behalf of Council, I am very proud to welcome you to our great town, home of the longest fresh water beach in the world and a great place to live, work and play.

Our quality of life, and safe, friendly community has attracted a steady stream of new residents and seasonal dwellers for many years.  Wasaga Beach's demographics include growing families, retirees and young couples.  We have more than 18,500 permanent residents, 9,000 seasonal residents and a catchment area of more than 50,000. The Town of Wasaga Beach is within a 2 hour drive from Toronto, 45 minute drive from Barrie and a 30 minute drive from Blue Mountain Resort.

We are a full service community offering elementary schools, churches, health care facilities, a complete transit system and sports and seniors facilities.  Additionally, there are a variety of business and community service clubs and organizations available in Town.

Nestled on the southern end of Georgian Bay, Wasaga Beach offers the world's longest freshwater beach with 14 kilometres of sand beach, warm clean water, a panoramic view of the Blue Mountains across the bay, a scenic river and a dramatic sand dune system; all surrounded by acres of natural parkland known as Wasaga Beach Provincial Park.

The community offers a variety recreation opportunities, suitable for all seasons including: trails for hiking, cycling and running as well as golfing, sports fishing and other water sports. Winter activities include several kilometres of groomed snowmobile trails, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and winter hiking.  Wasaga Beach is located a short 30-45 minute drive from four alpine/downhill ski resorts.  These recreational activities are complimented by a wide selection of special events taking place throughout the year, restaurants, shopping, entertainment and a variety of accommodation options.

Wasaga Beach is rich in history from the War of 1812 where battles were fought, and the HMS Nancy was sunk forming one of our most treasured historic sites, Nancy Island.  To today, where we are working hard to build a vibrant, prosperous and sustainable community that will offer an even better place to live work and play for both our full-time residents and visitors.

Wasaga Beach has been a tourist destination for 65 plus years attracting millions of visitors to our beautiful town to enjoy our great beaches, many great special events and all the area has to offer. To see a list of all our special events, dates and times, please see our Special Events page or contact Town Hall.

Wasaga Beach is open for business and we welcome and encourage new business.  If you are interested in starting a business in Wasaga Beach or relocating an existing business, our Economic Development department provides a number of services that may be of assistance or interest to you.  For more information, please visit the Economic Development section of the website.
