Recreation & Youth Services
The Town of Wasaga Beach, Recreation Coordinator is responsible for providing a variety of recreation and leisure opportunities, sports and courses for all ages and levels of interest. In early March and September the Town distributes the Recreation Guide via mail to the community containing information about upcoming recreation programs, courses, special events and news about your Town facilities.
We promote active healthy lifestyles partnering with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Units, VON and Active Transportation Committees.
To ensure positive youth engagement we collaborate with SPRYNT, the Provincial Consortium for youth in Recreation and the
Wasaga Beach Youth Centre. As liaison to our community organizations we partner to enhance the quality of life in our community.

Wasaga Beach Sport and Recreation Council
The Wasaga Beach Sport and Recreation Council is a group of individuals who provide guidance and advice to the Department of Recreation, Events and Facilities pertaining to fundraising, athletic development and coaching practices. The council meets on a monthly basis to tackle projects impacting Wasaga Beach sport and recreation and work to provide cohesion between the many private, municipal and volunteer sport agency that make up the community.

Sport and Recreation Service Provider of the Month
The Town of Wasaga Beach is a growing community of active families and individuals. We are lucky to have so many business, volunteer organizations and service providers meeting the sport, recreation and leisure needs of our patrons.
The Recreation, Events and Facilities Department works hard to liaise with each of these organizations to highlighting the services provided and give the community an opportunity to become educated about all the amazing health and well-being opportunities in this area.
The Sport and Recreation Service Provider of the Month is a one-page information piece that highlights information about these organizations, programs, and provides public education for you to participate fully in the activities offered in Wasaga Beach
Wasaga Beach Adult Team Sports (B.A.T.S.)
The B.A.T.S. program was funded by the province through the Sport and Recreation Community Fund through 2016 and 2018 and has grown to be an important part of the services offered by the Recreation, Events and Facilities department. This program is in partnership with the Wasaga Beach YMCA and offers Adults in the area many opportunities to enjoy evening recreation options.
Free child care is offered through the Wasaga YMCA during the evenings of most Wasaga B.A.T.S. programs, parents can register for these programs and the child care through the YMCA.

We have numerous opportunities available to volunteer with the Town of Wasaga Beach Recreation, Events and Facilities Department.
Volunteer opportunities include:
Recreation Program Delivery and Supervision, Annual Community Special Events, Age Friendly Community Programs, Fundraising for Youth Centre Programs, Youth Advisory Leadership Committee, Leadership Mentors for the Youth Centre, Recreation Programs and Sports Camp. The list continues to grow and is ever changing.
You can get involved, learn new skills, share your talents, develop leadership skills, meet new friends, give back to the community and have fun!
All volunteers are asked to make a commitment to volunteering and training.
Volunteer are required to attend a Volunteer orientation session. These sessions are offered monthly at the Youth Centre.

Q: When does the Recreation Guide come out?
A: The Spring/Summer Guide is sent to all Wasaga Beach residents by early March and the Fall/Winter Guide is sent to all residents in early August.
Q: How can we register for recreation programs?
A: You have to come into the Parks, Facilities and Recreation office in the RecPlex, 1724 Mosley St., or drop the registration form and payment at the Town Hall office: there is a mail slot outside the front entrance of the building.
Q: When can we register for Recreation programs?
A: Immediately, once the brochure has been released. We accept cash, cheque, Interac and Credit Card Payments for your convenience.
Q: What types of programs are available for youth?
A: There are many programs listed in the brochure dedicated to youth, i.e. Gymnastics, Karate, Performing Arts, hockey, figure skating, soccer etc.
Q: Is there a Youth Center in Wasaga Beach?
A: Yes. Wasaga Beach opened its Youth Center at 1621 Mosley St. in late 2010.
Staff consists of a full-time Youth Coordinator along with three part-time Assistants.
Q: Are their summer camps for youth?
A: Yes, there are many Town run camps available to the youth including hockey camps, figure skating, gymnastics etc. as well as day camps offered through the YMCA.
