There are currently no vehicle checkpoints or road closures in effect.

    Frequently Asked Questions
I am a resident of Wasaga Beach and I work/travel outside of Town, how am I getting back in?
No Wasaga Beach resident will be denied entry into Town. Please leave yourself extra time when commuting in and out of Town. If you are a Wasaga Beach resident driving a modified vehicle, be prepared to show proof of residency.
I have family/friends visiting this weekend, how will they get to my home?
We encourage residents to remind their visitors that if they are travelling in a modified vehicle, they should leave that vehicle at home to minimize any disruption to weekend plans. If your family/friends are travelling in a modified vehicle and are not residents or property owners in Wasaga Beach, they may be denied entry.
    Why are there vehicle checkpoints?
The purpose of the checkpoints is to prevent the gathering of vehicles that have come to Wasaga to participate in the unsanctioned and illegal car rally, and to ensure the safety of all residents and businesses.
Under what authority am I being stopped?

    The Authority of the Town to respond to the illegal car rally comes from the combination of the following legal authorities;

    • Pursuant to Sections 128 and 440 of the Municipal Act
    • Section 101 of the Courts of Justice Act
    • Town of Wasaga Beach By-Law No. 2023-74
    • The Court Order Injunction
    Are the checkpoints staffed 24hrs?
Yes, security personnel will be on site and supported by local police services.
Why has the Town not worked with the car rally group to create a sanctioned event?

The Town recognizes the importance of tourism and the opportunity to collaborate with legitimate car enthusiast groups to create safe and popular events.

After the events of 2021 and 2022, which resulted in large-scale damage to public and private property, including the destruction of OPP cruisers and attacks on first responders, the Town reached out to H2Oi organizers to attempt to create a safe and sanctioned event in Wasaga Beach. The group was not responsive to organizing a sanctioned event.

I am going to the Memories of Summer event, how will I get to the beachfront?

Visitors to the event are encouraged to visit wasagabeach.com/parking for parking information. The Town is opening Beach Drive to pedestrian traffic only to accommodate this event. This also means more people will be able to enjoy the beach, live entertainment, shops, patios, restaurants, food trucks and magnificent sunsets. For more information on the event, please visit the Memories of Summer Facebook event page.

Where can I park this long weekend?
Please visit wasagabeach.com/parking for parking information and lot locations. There are no municipal parking lot closures at this time.

If you are planning on using a Provincial Parks lot, please visit the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park website for the most up to date and accurate parking information.

What do I do if I see illegal car rally activity within Town?

Please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 (if it is an emergency dial 9-1-1).

Are there fines for participating in illegal car rallies in Wasaga Beach?

Yes. Fines may be issued as follows:

    -       Participate = $880

    -       Obstruct an Officer = $880

    -       1st-time offence = $25,000

    -       2nd offence = $50,000

If I live near a road closure, will someone be there to let me in?
