Reality: Sixteen full-time employees have left the town from March 16 to Nov. 16. They left for a variety of reasons including leaving for a more senior position in their field (3); retirements (3); took lateral positions with other municipalities that pay more (3); for personal reasons (2), and taking a job in the private sector(1). We know that two of the employees were disgruntled about the town’s approach to delivering essential services.
Rumour: At least 19 employees have left the town since COVID started in March and some of this may be due to employees being told they could not work from home.
Get the Facts: We have 130 dedicated and hard working full-time staff at the Town of Wasaga Beach. Turnover in organizations is often cyclical and quite normal. We wish the ones that left all the best and thank them for their contributions in moving the town forward. We have also hired great replacements for these positions from strong pools of candidates, with new ideas, energy and experiences. People want to work for the town as they see a progressive council and opportunities as the town grows.
