Busker Applications

If you are a musician, singer, dancer, juggler, magician, comedian, or other entertainer, there are locations in the Town of Wasaga Beach that welcome and encourage you to showcase your talent.

Entertainers are asked to attend a short audition; and if successful, obtain an annual Busker Permit and photo ID ($20.00 for Town of Wasaga Beach residents and $40.00 for non-residents).

Permitted buskers may entertain seasonally (June to September) from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Designated busking areas will be available within the Main Street Market, and other Beach Area One locations in the Town of Wasaga Beach. See attached application for or contact us today.

The Town of Wasaga Beach will be honouring the contributions of its citizens on May 12, 2018 at Wasaga's Finest Citizens Awards. 

To be eligible for these distinctions, nominees should possess the following attributes:Awards will include:

  • Athlete of the Year, Sports Achievements, Volunteer Recognition,  Historical Significance and Historical Appreciation Awards and The Order of Wasaga Beach. 
  • Athlete of the Year should be participating at a provincial level or higher to qualify, age is not a factor;
  • Sports Achievement Award for individuals and teams for any achievement in sport;
  • Volunteer Recognition Awards for dedicated & outstanding volunteers, who go above and beyond, organizing and inspiring others, events programs or fundraising;
  • Historical Significance Award to recognize cultural icons (including residential properties, local artifacts, landmarks, building structures, businesses, or locations that have a historical association and reveal aspects of local history);
  • Historical Appreciation Award to recognize individuals and/or organizations that have played a significant role in the promotion or conservation of the history of Wasaga Beach; and
  • ​Order of Wasaga Beach nominees should be those persons who enrich community life by contributing significantly to the improvement of arts, social, cultural & recreational conditions, by way of volunteering.

Nominations for Historical Awards will be received until Tuesday April 2nd, 2018 and nominations for Sports Achievement, Volunteers & Order of Wasaga Beach will be received until Friday, April 13th, 2018.

La Grande Traversée Cycliste (LGT) 6e Édition // 6th Annual Ride

May 24 - La Grande Traversee Cycliste (LGT)
This is the 6th annual national road-cycling relay for Canadian French school students. It was created in 2013 as a partial way to counter juvenile inactivity across Canada. More than 250 teens from across Canada will relay cycle from BC to Charlottetown PEI. Each relay is 3 day long and riders will cover about 110 km per day including school conferences along the way to encourage healthy lifestyle and join in the movement. The Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides is a national fundraiser held in approximately 300 communities across Canada. The Walk raises funds for Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, whose mission is to assist Canadians with a medical or physical disability by providing them a Dog Guide at no cost. Dog Guides are provided at no cost to eligible Canadians, despite the $25,000 expense it takes to raise, train, and place each one.

Adopt-a-Road

Be part of our community and Adopt-a-Road! Residents and community groups contribute their time two mornings per year to cleaning up their chosen road. International Trails Day

Wasaga Beach Hiking Club invites the public to Hike and Bike the Harold Culham Trail in Wasaga Beach Provincial Park on International Trails Day, Saturday, June 2, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Hike from Schoonertown Parkette at the corner of River Rd West and Oxbow Park Dr. to Wasaga Nordic Centre, for 7 km with shuttle provided back to Schoonertown. Bike from Schoonertown to Wasaga Nordic and continue on to Shore Lane to complete the loop, 15 km back to Schoonertown. For information contact Irene 705.352.1060 or email ibell@start.ca

For 20 minutes, 29 riders power one Big Bike. On event day, one of our drivers will accompany you as you pedal through your community and celebrate your accomplishments. While you pedal, you literally stop traffic to support critical heart disease and stroke research, so you’ll feel good, while doing good. But be warned: The minute you stop, you’ll want to climb right back on. It’s that much fun!

The inaugural Heroes Festival is coming to the sandy shores of Wasaga Beach on June 23-24, 2018. This family-friendly festival will honour and pay tribute to Canada’s Military and First Responder Heroes. The weekend will feature static and interactive displays from the military, first responder agencies, suppliers and manufacturers. That means kids of all ages can climb on fire trucks, sit in police cars, lie on ambulance stretchers, put on firefigher gear, watch jets and eat cotton candy. An airshow featuring the Snowbirds, the CF-18 Demo Hornet, Skyhawks Parachute Team and some really cool civilian aerobatic performers. You can actually go for a swim as jets fly overhead.

Stick around on Saturday afternoon for a free beach concert and our Heroes Valour Awards where we will hand out the Police Officer of the Year, Firefighter of the Year and Paramedic of the Year awards.

Huronia Hot Strings are a recently formed ensemble of seasoned musicians from many different genres of music, who have come together to perform in the demanding and elite style of upbeat, danceable and fun music.  Huronia Hot strings play an unique style of music known as Gypsy Jazz based on the music of the great Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and the Hot Club Quintet of France.

Born and raised in small town Fergus, Ontario, Madison Galloway is a driven and dynamic multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter with a unique approach to her blend of folk, rock, and blues. Madison takes the stage with guitar, harmonica, and ukulele performing solo, as part of the duo Fork n' Harp, or accompanied by her band, The Mud Guppies and at just 18 years old, Madison already has over 160 shows under her belt. Her live performance is riveting for its energy and has been described as "upbeat" and "emotionally exhilarating".  British style traditional jazz, rooted in new Orleans, nurtured in pubs and clubs, will knock your socks off. This Toronto-based band of outstanding musicianship was formed in 1971, adapting through the years with the infusion of talented young players and fresh new tunes. Having played festivals in Canada and the U.S., tours in Europe and Japan and JazzSea cruises have made them many friends. Climax's performances are showcased in over 30 recordings and can be seen in scores of videos on UTube.
