The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is responsible, under the general direction of Council, to lead a team of Department Heads and staff in implementing Council's programs and directions in an efficient and effective manner.  

The CAO is also responsible for the overall operation of the Town and is the main policy advisor to Council on municipal matters.

The CAO's office is directly responsible for the following offices:

The Clerk is responsible for the compilation of correspondence, reports and related supporting documentation for the preparation of meeting agendas for Committee of the Whole of Council, General Government Committee and Council.  The Clerk attends meetings to record Council actions and follows up with the preparation of meeting minutes/reports and ensures that Departments are aware of Council decisions.

The Clerk issues marriage licences and burial permits and is a Division Registrar for the Office of the Registrar General (births and deaths).  The Clerk is also responsible for managing the municipal election.  The Clerk oversees the operation, management and maintenance of the Wasaga Beach Cemetery .

The Clerk's Office also provides administrative support to the Mayor and Members of Council and oversees the activities of the By-law Department.
